Over the past forty years, the development of Taiwan's economy has made such great strides that it has come to be described as the 'Taiwanese Miracle'. Due to the cooperation initiated by Taiwan government with the private sector, a stable and attractive environment for investment and business development was created and, since the 1980’s, massive economic growth has come from the IT industry. Moreover, government had been sponsoring many local tech companies and education associations in developing advanced technologies and cultivating R&D talents.

In terms of productivity and export value, Taiwan has become a world-class manufacturing center and is currently one of the top three leaders in more than 30 fields, including semiconductors, notebook computers, motherboards, LCD monitors, flat panel displays and IC design. According to TSIA (Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association), the semiconductor industry’s total revenue expected to rise to over US$60 billion by the year of 2010. Taiwan’s distinguished growth has allowed it to become one of the major IC manufacturers in the world. From an agriculturally based island, Taiwan has successfully transformed itself into an IT design and manufacturing hub within the Asia Pacific region.

With the rise of the China market, numerous Taiwanese companies have relocated their factories to China, taking advantage of inexpensive manufacturing costs. The investment from Taiwan has played an instrumental role in the development of the Chinese economy. Taiwan’s strengths lie in the well-educated talent, vast experiences and commitment to high quality products.
