The Largest Independent
IT PR Agency In The United States Moves Its Asia-Pacific Headquarters
To Hong Kong
Lou Hoffman, president
and founder of The Hoffman Agency, said the companys Asia-Pacific
headquarters will move from Singapore to Hong Kong early next year.
The Hoffman Agency is the largest independent IT PR agency in the
United States. The company is based in Silicon Valley.
Hoffman noted that several
factors are making Hong Kong increasingly attractive to IT companies:
Hong Kong has made significant progress in the IT and high-tech
areas in recent years, and the Hong Kong government has implemented
a variety of policies to attract IT companies from around the world.
In addition, as China enters the World Trade Organization, Hong
Kong is strategically positioned as the best channel into China.
More foreign IT companies will be doing business in Hong Kong, or
expanding in mainland China via Hong Kong.
Hoffman also mentioned
that despite the burst of the technology-equity bubble, and the
Nasdaq crash, venture capital continues to pour into the IT sectors.
He pointed out that in
Northern California investments in the IT industries are increasing.
Venture capital last year totaled $13.5 billion, with $5.7 billion
invested in the fourth quarter. The figure was close to $7 billion
in the second quarter of this year.
He also listed the breakdown
of the venture investments: 28 percent in Internet companies, 24
percent in telecommunications, 18 percent in software development
and about 14 percent in e-commerce development.
