Experience Of Failure Is An Invaluable Asset

Lou Hoffman, president and founder of The Hoffman Agency - a Silicon Valley-based IT PR agency - said there are many high-caliber executives in Hong Kong, but some of them cannot realize their full potential. In the Silicon Valley, people can more easily find lucrative jobs if they have previously experienced failure. That means this experience is really valuable. It is believed that those people will not be easily defeated, and they are equipped in dealing with more practical experiences. When we look at the situation in Hong Kong, those who seem to have “failed” are seldom given a second chance.

The reporter believes that Hong Kong has to view Silicon Valley as a good example for various areas. To value the experience of failure is one of them. The other Silicon Valley characteristics from which Hong Kong could learn are technology research, creativity and the flow of communication.
