Hoffman Scores Fifth Asian Goal

SEOUL: Silicon Valley-based hi-tech firm The Hoffman Agency is on the brink of launching its fifth Asian office, in Korea.

Expected to launch in September, the new operation will begin working with regional clients Virtual Ink and Tessera under the leadership of MD Sue Kim.

Kim joins from hi-tech agency Incomm Korea, where she was an account manager. Since being hired two years ago, she has been seconded to Hoffman’s San Jose HQ.

Hoffman launched its first Asian office in Singapore in 1996 and has since opened branches in Beijing, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

With a launch headcount of three, the Korean office will initially support regional PR programmes, but Hoffman president Lou Hoffman did not rule out Korean work.

“We’ll definitely pursue Korean business if it makes sense,” Hoffman told APRN.

“It’s just that if the country manager of an IT company in Korea decides to conduct an agency review, he or she will likely gravitate towards the indigenous IT PR agencies.”

Kim reports to Asia-Pacific managing director Michelle Herman.
